We built the FM TCP Bridge app to accept scan data from DataLogic scanners and convert TCP streams into usable FileMaker data thru OData record creation. Previously, we had a simple FM Database tied to a listener using the MBS Plugin. While this worked, it required FM App to be open all the time and logged into the customer system. With the FM TCP Bridge, it starts on macOS startup, listens for incoming data and then calls a FM Script via OData for parsing and processing on server. Specifically, the use case for our customer is to scan UPS barcodes on packages to verify fulfillment. The 1Z barcode is tied back to the order shipment to mark as fulfilled.
