NRGship for UPS Compatibility with macOS 10.15, Catalina

macOS 10.15, also known as Catalina was released on Monday, October 9th, 2019. Catalina is is a free update from Apple. It will run on most any Mac made since 2012 and is considered a maintenance update. However, there are some changes which break compatability with applications. Now in it’s 10th year of release, NRGship for UPS has been tested under Catalina however we highly suggest users wait to upgrade to ensure compatibility across all installed applications.

Create UPS Shipping Labels from FileMaker Pro in under 10 minutes

In this video we will show you how to quickly integrate NRGship FM for UPS with your database by adding an external data source, creating relationships with the NRGship tables, and building a basic shipping script. While this video utilizes our UPS solution, the process is similar for other carriers.

Quickly save labels to PDF

NRGship Pro for UPS and NRGship Pro for FedEx both have the ability to create PDF versions of labels that were originally shipped using output to thermal printers. When printing to a thermal printer, we produce output files that are native to the device. In previous releases if you needed a PDF you would have to void the label and re-ship for laser and then save as PDF. We are now able to convert these labels to PDF so they can be created quickly by choosing the PDF option from shipment detail.

NRGship is Compatible with FileMaker Pro v18

NRG Software is excited to announced that the current release of all NRGship solutions are compatible with the FileMaker Pro v18 platform. Internal testing has not uncovered any issues. As with any upgrade, we suggest customers test their integration before upgrading production systems. Customers using NRG Ship Connect should email sales@nrgsoft.com for upgrade information.

NRGship Pro for UPS now supports Printmatics and Fishbowl Inventory

Recent integrations for NRGship Pro for UPS include support for Fishbowl Inventory and Printmatics. Now you can easily ship from these ERP systems with ease from your Mac. Once configured, simply enter an order # to have destination information auto-populated. You can then capture weights from a digital scale and output labels to thermal printer or other device. After shipment, the order will be updated in the ERP so that tracking data is displayed for full visibility. Contact NRG sales for further information on integration with these systems.

Utilize UPS Ground Freight Pricing with NRGship Pro for UPS

We’ve had numerous requests to add support for UPS Ground Freight Pricing over the past few months. This service is an economical choice for multi-package shipments weighing more than 150 lbs via the UPS Ground service. You can easily toggle between standard UPS services and GFP by entering a Freight Class and toggling GFP mode. In the video below we show you how it’s done.

NRGship for FileMaker and Encryption At Rest

If you’ve got your NRGship solution hosted on FileMaker Cloud or a local server with Encryption at Rest (EAR) and you want to update to the latest NRGship build it’s best to remove the encryption before the update otherwise you’re going to be faced with a dialog to enter the EAR password FOR EVERY IMPORT you perform. Luckily, with FileMaker Pro Advanced, you can use the Developer Utilities to remove the EAR password from your files before you run the import. This will save you the headache of entering the password and when you upload the files back to your server the password will be re-added. Check out FileMaker Help for more information on decrypting your files.

How to Encrypt for Hosting

When uploading to FileMaker Cloud for AWS or FileMaker Cloud v2 the FileMaker Server Admin Console will force you to add an encryption password. If you are going to use EAR on a local host, you will need to contact NRG support for assistance in adding the password before you upload to your host.

USPS Changes

On Sunday, Jul USPSUPDATE y 28, 2013 the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) implemented changes to mail class naming and label requirements. At the same time, they launched support for a new offering and expanded an existing international feature.

You may need to update your NRGship USPS software to support changes. Contact NRG for assistance.

Key changes include:

Express Mail is being renamed Priority Mail Express

Express Mail International is being renamed Priority Mail Express International

Both Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express labels will now show an estimated delivery time (1-DAY, 2-DAY, or 3-DAY) or special text for Military and DPO destinations.
- You cannot choose between the various delivery times. The appropriate timeframe is calculated automatically based on origin and destination ZIP Codes.
- Priority Mail delivery estimates are not guaranteed.
- Priority Mail Express retains the Express Mail money-back guarantee.

There will be a new design for Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express packaging from USPS, however old packaging will still be accepted while supplies last.

Priority Mail now includes $50 of free USPS insurance coverage for Commercial Base postage customers and $100 of free USPS insurance coverage for Commercial Plus postage customers.
- You do not need to update your software to take advantage of this coverage.
- All claims must be filed at usps.com.
- An IMpb (Intelligent Mail package barcode) tracking barcode is required for your package to be eligible.

Electronic Delivery Confirmation International service is now available to 13 countries in addition to Canada
- This service is available for the Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelopes and Small Flat Rate Box, as well as all First-Class Package International Service parcels.
- You do not need to update your software to access this service for the additional counties. The software will automatically default to adding the service when any of these countries is in the destination address.

Many domestic shipping labels will now include a new Carrier Route Code. The Carrier Route code is a four-character code that will appear to the right of the return address and the immediate left of the current Retail Distribution Code.
