NRGship Compatibility with macOS Sequoia

macOS 15, also known as Sequoia was released on September 16, 2024. Sequoia is is a free update from Apple. It will run on most any Mac made since 2018, however this is considered a major OS release. In our testing, Sequoia performs best on modern day Macs with Apple Silicon processors. NRGship for UPS, NRGship Pro for UPS and NRGship Pro for FedEx have been tested under Sequoia however we highly suggest users wait to upgrade to ensure compatibility across all installed applications. For customers using NRGship with FileMaker, please check Claris FileMaker release notes for any issues.

NRGship to support FedEx RESTful APls in 2024

Recently, FedEx customers have been receiving messaging regarding FedEx WSDLs being retired in May of 2024. NRGship communicates with FedEx using this interface and has been actively redeveloping using the newer RESTful APIs for release in 2024. Note that only tracking and address validation will be impacted in older versions of NRGship, however updating to the newer release before May 2024 will provide longterm compatability with future FedEx updates.

If you are a FileMaker Developer and have done your own FedEx integration with SOAP APIs then you may want to evaluate using NRGship FM for FedEx instead of investing development resources into your own efforts. NRGship FM is the only carrier-certified solution for FedEx, UPS and USPS shipping from FileMaker Pro. NRG participates in 2023 PromoStandards Hack-A-Thon

Back in September, NRG Software staff participated in a group effort to use AI functionality along with PromoStandards to solve common business needs in the promo industry. Utilizing OpenAI we created a group name, logo and a model that would use AI to source and select products based on a prompt, for example, “what products would be good for a sales summit?” We loaded our model with products from several PromoStandards Product Data endpoints. The result was a web solution which returned product text and images based on the query. In the end, our group took 3rd place for our solution.

In a previous article we looked at PromoStandards integration using AirTable and Claris FileMaker Pro.

NRG shipping supports new USPS Ground Advantage

On July 9, 2023, USPS introduced a new ground-based package service: USPS Ground Advantage. This service replaces USPS First-Class Package Service, Parcel Select Ground, and Retail Ground. First-Class Mail Letters and Large Envelopes/Flats will continue to be available. Ground Advantage delivers packages within the Continental United States in 2-5 business days with free tracking and $100 of USPS insurance for packages between 0 and 70 lbs.

Recent builds of Ship Connect Multi-Carrier and NRGship FM for USPS support the new USPS Ground Advantage option. Previous builds have existing First-Class and ParcelSelect services re-mapped to the new USPS Ground Advantage. Cutomers using these services should plan to upgrade their solution files before end-of-year 2023 for continued service availability.
