Quickly rate shipments in FileMaker Pro

Did you know that NRG can provide a single API that will provide rates for UPS, FedEx and USPS all in a single request? You can implement this API very quickly to provide access to your discounted shipping rates without the need for NRG’s full-blown shipping solutions using built-in FileMaker functions like Insert from URL with POST data. Multi-carrier rating API access starts at $450/year. Contact sales@nrgsoft.com for more information.

NRGship for FileMaker and Encryption At Rest

If you’ve got your NRGship solution hosted on FileMaker Cloud or a local server with Encryption at Rest (EAR) and you want to update to the latest NRGship build it’s best to remove the encryption before the update otherwise you’re going to be faced with a dialog to enter the EAR password FOR EVERY IMPORT you perform. Luckily, with FileMaker Pro Advanced, you can use the Developer Utilities to remove the EAR password from your files before you run the import. This will save you the headache of entering the password and when you upload the files back to your server the password will be re-added. Check out FileMaker Help for more information on decrypting your files.

How to Encrypt for Hosting

When uploading to FileMaker Cloud for AWS or FileMaker Cloud v2 the FileMaker Server Admin Console will force you to add an encryption password. If you are going to use EAR on a local host, you will need to contact NRG support for assistance in adding the password before you upload to your host.

Print branded shipping labels with NRGship Pro

NRGship Pro for UPS and NRGship Pro for FedEx both include the ability to place an image on the extended area of shopping labels printed to Zebra thermal printers. To take advantage of this feature simply choose the Logo option for the Doc Tab content in printing preferences. You will need to use 4×8 or DocTab labels for this option.

Let’s talk about Quantum View Notifications

Recently we’ve have requests about how to customize the text that appears in UPS Quantum View notifications. In NRGship you can set three pieces of information that show on the label. The first is the Sender Name. If you have a Sender Name set in QV this value will be used, otherwise it will default to the shipper (or drop shipper) name. The second is the Message area. This can be used to include a Thank You or other customizable information. Lastly any reference information on the shipment will be included, along with the reference field labels. Unfortunately, the From value that appears is your account name on file with UPS. You will need to contact your UPS rep in order to change the way that this appears.

Simply open your System Preferences and choose Security & Privacy. From this screen you can select Contacts and then check the box to allow access to the listed apps.
