NRGship for UPS Compatibility with macOS Big Sur

macOS 11, also known as Big Sur was released on Thursday, November 12th, 2020. Big Sur is is a free update from Apple. It will run on most any Mac made since 2013, however we consider this a major OS release. Big Sur sports a refined interface, and under the hood removes older technology which can break compatability with applications, while adding support for Apple’s new silicon processors. NRGship for UPS has been tested under Big Sur however we highly suggest users wait to upgrade to ensure compatibility across all installed applications.

How to process USMCA shipments with NRGship

This article is current as of July 2020. It will be updated as we receive new information from our carrier partners.

As of July 1st, 2020, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Some shipments that cross the borders of these countries may require special import forms.

For USMCA details and forms, go to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection USMCA page. For NAFTA information, go to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection NAFTA page.

UPS

Currently the UPS Developer Kit APIs do not support the new USMCA forms for automated processing.  You will need to produce your own USMCA forms and apply them to the outside of packages. You can find more information on USMCA and a sample form for UPS shipments using this link.

FedEx

Currently the FedEx Shipment APIs do not support the new USMCA forms for automated processing.  You will need to produce your own USMCA forms and apply them to the outside of packages. You can find more information on USMCA and a sample form for FedEx shipments using this link. We are working on an update where you can attach a PDF version of the FedEx form to your shipment.

Using NRGship with PrintNode

Current releases of all NRGship Pro products for desktop and FileMaker Pro include a feature that allows for printing to remote thermal printers using PrintNode. This can come in handy if you are working remote and want to print labels to a printer in a warehouse used for fulfillment, or if you’re working in a workgroup setting and want to share a thermal printer that does not have built-in networking. First you will need to create a PrintNode account and then install the PrintNode application on the workstation that has the thermal printer connected. Afterwards you can go into NRGship preferences and drop in your API Key so that you’ll be able to select the printer thru the Advanced Printing.

PrintNode is free for up to 50 prints per month, while paid accounts with up to 5,000 prints start at $9.

PrintNode also works great for workstations running NRGship with FileMaker Pro in a Windows Terminal Server session, or for printing to a thermal printer via FileMaker Go or Web Direct.

Please contact NRG support if you need any assistance with PrintNode setup.

Quickly save labels to PDF

NRGship Pro for UPS and NRGship Pro for FedEx both have the ability to create PDF versions of labels that were originally shipped using output to thermal printers. When printing to a thermal printer, we produce output files that are native to the device. In previous releases if you needed a PDF you would have to void the label and re-ship for laser and then save as PDF. We are now able to convert these labels to PDF so they can be created quickly by choosing the PDF option from shipment detail.
