NRGship Pro for UPS now provides UPS Mail Innovation Rating

With the recent changes to UPS SurePost® services, UPS Mail Innovations® (MI) is a cost effective alternative to standard UPS services. Previously, there were limitations where NRGship could not provide contract rating for MI shipments but new functionality has been provided as part of our UPS Ready® partnership allowing NRGship to display these rates. This allows NRGship to provide accurate rate comparisons across all UPS service offerings.

UPS® SurePost will no longer deliver to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Territories.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced several changes to its Parcel Select service that will significantly impact UPS SurePost. Parcel Select is designed for high-volume shippers to enter packages for delivery through the USPS, giving UPS and other high-volume shippers flexibility to leverage the postal delivery network for final-mile delivery.

NRGship Compatibility with macOS Sequoia

macOS 15, also known as Sequoia was released on September 16, 2024. Sequoia is is a free update from Apple. It will run on most any Mac made since 2018, however this is considered a major OS release. In our testing, Sequoia performs best on modern day Macs with Apple Silicon processors. NRGship for UPS, NRGship Pro for UPS and NRGship Pro for FedEx have been tested under Sequoia however we highly suggest users wait to upgrade to ensure compatibility across all installed applications. For customers using NRGship with FileMaker, please check Claris FileMaker release notes for any issues.

Claris Connect deprecates UPS Mobile Connector

Recently, we were informed that Claris would be removing the UPS Mobile connector from Claris Connect in a future release.

In the past we have written articles about using Claris Connect for UPS shipping and provided demo files for comparison with the NRGship Products. While Claris Connect with the UPS Mobile connector was effective for some use cases, it was lacking in general functionality.

If you are looking to perform rating, shipping, address validation, tracking from FileMaker Pro then our NRGship FM solutions will meet your single or multi-carrier needs.

Using NRGship on Older Macs (2024)

Recently we have had support issues with older Macs not supporting TeamViewer which we use for remote support.

We highly recommend updating to macOS 11 (Big Sur) for any Mac released since 2014. You can find more information on supported hardware for macOS Big Sur on the Apple website.

We do not recommend updating older Macs to newer OS versions like Ventura or Sonoma as these versions are meant for newer Apple Silicon Macs and performance and compatability will be degraded.

As always, check compatibility with other applications that you use before updating.

For customers using macOS 10.15 (Catalina) our knowledgebase has a link for an older compatible version.

Upgrading NRGship Pro for UPS for June 2024 UPS API Updates

As previously noted, customers will need to update to current versions for UPS API compatibility before early June 2024.

In the video below we will walk you thru the following steps to upgrade NRGship Pro for UPS.

Rename your existing NRGship folder by appending BACKUP to the name
Download new UPS files from https://ws.nrgsoft.com/nrgship_pro_ups.dmg
Drag the NRGship Pro for UPS folder to your Applications folder
In the BACKUP folder rename the files ending with .12USR to .BAK.12USR
Copy the four .BAK.12USR files into the new NRGship folder
Open NRGship Pro for UPS – it will ask about updating – say Yes
During the preference import it’s going to ask you to login to UPS.com to link NRGship to your UPS profile. This is required information.
In NRGship, go to the UPS accounts tab – it should show your UPS accounts with API info
Check your imported preferences to make sure everything else looks correct
Remove/re-add your dock icon for NRGship Pro
You are ready to ship!
Note that when your NRGship Account was created your previous license code was used for your password
